Almagre Mountain

Almagre Mountain is a wonderful, low cost alternative to Cheyenne Mountain for communications into the Colorado Springs area.  Located in the Pike National Forest, Almagre has a very wide view of many surrounding areas including Colorado Springs and Pueblo.  By connecting with Mount Morrison, or Lookout Mountain, Almagre is easily connected with downtown Denver via long haul microwave.  Additionally, Almagre can be a backdoor connection into Cripple Creek though our other site Badger Mountain.

Currently Almagre is serving broadcasters, WISPS, two way operators, and government services.  With plenty of space open in all directions, Almagre is just the site you have been looking for! 

In the picture above you will see a 6' high performance dual polarity antenna about 6 feet off the ground.  This antenna currently links Almagre to Mount Morrison and Lookout Mountain.  This is a communal antenna and can serve the 6 GHz part 101 band or the 6.8-7.2 GHz Broadcast band. 

With the use of a ENG steerable antenna (seen on the top of the tower), the sightlines of Almagre Mountain are amazing.  With very few obstructions to block microwave signals from all directions, Almagre Mountain can see and receive signals from over 100 miles.  With this range, Almagre can see the Kansas boarder via ENG.  Just think of the possibilities using a helicopter!

This picture is taken from the tower leg facing East-North-East into Colorado Springs.  Although it is slightly hazy, you can make out the city just above the mountain peaks.  The most amazing feature is the horizon which is over 100 miles away!

The picture to the left shows just the upper view of Colorado Springs and towns further east.  This is picture is also taken from the leg of the tower facing North East. 

In the picture below you can see the notch that is formed between Almagre and Pikes Peak.  This notch allows views into Mount Morrison and Lookout Mountain.  By utilizing either of these other several other communication sites, Almagre can be connected from Denver into Colorado Springs and/or Pueblo.  Existing antennas are available for use, or you may install your own.
